Submission Terms
What you’re agreeing to when you submit a project
You keep ownership
Your project description, images, and story remain yours. Always.
You’re not signing anything away or giving up rights to your work.
What you’re granting us
By submitting, you give Projects at Rest a non-exclusive license to:
- Display your project on this website
- Include it in any future formats (print books, exhibitions, social media posts, compilations)
- Edit it for length, clarity, or formatting (we won’t change your meaning)
- Use the images you provide alongside your project description
Non-exclusive means: You can still use your project description, images, and story anywhere else. You’re not locked in.
What we can do
We can:
- Decline your submission. We curate carefully. Not every submission fits.
- Edit for clarity. Fix typos, adjust formatting, trim for length. We won’t change what you meant.
- Remove your project later. If something changes or we need to take it down, we can.
What you confirm
By submitting, you confirm:
- You wrote the project description yourself, or have permission to share it
- Any images you upload are yours, or you have the right to share them
- Everything you’re submitting is true as you understand it
- You’re okay with it being public
No compensation
This is a curated archive, not a marketplace. There’s no payment for submissions, published or unpublished.
Future uses
If we publish a book, create an exhibition, or share projects on social media, your submission might be included. You won’t get advance notice for every use, but:
- Your project will always be attributed the way you specified (name, handle, or anonymous)
- We won’t use it in ways that misrepresent what you submitted
- You can request removal at any time (see below)
Removal requests
If your project is published and you want it removed:
- Email us at mark@projectsatrest.com
- We’ll take it down from the website within 7 days
- Already-printed books or past social posts can’t be removed, but we won’t include it in future materials
We’re reasonable. If something needs to come down, just tell us.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll update this page and note the date. Projects submitted under previous terms stay under those terms unless you agree otherwise.
Questions
Email mark@projectsatrest.com. We’re not lawyers. We’re just trying to be clear about what happens to submissions.
The short version: You keep ownership. We can display your project here and in future formats. You can request removal. No payment, no tricks.
